  • Philly Cop Shot in Name of Islam. What To Do?

    Philly

The suspect in the shooting (“attempted execution”) of a Philadelphia police officer declared that he shot the officer in Islam’s name.   (From the Police Commissioner: “According to him, police bend laws that are contrary to the teachings of the Quran.”) Somehow, the mayor of Philadelphia seems to disagree with the shooter.  Sorta like how Obama doesn’t think muhammedans shrieking their hatred and vengeance upon the infidel as they murder Christians by the thousands has anything to do with muhammedanism.

Be that as it may, the man used a stolen police gun, something the new Obama executive action surely would have prevented.  The police need to be armed, of course, so the real criminal here is obviously religion.  It is high time we recognize that religion kills more people than anything else.  And in order to keep our children safe, we need to have some serious curbs on just anyone having religion.   Schools should be God-free zones.  We need to stop the “extremists” who have hijacked the First Amendment to claim an individual right to faith.

Do you believe in God?  Then you are an extremist.  You should be listed in a federal database as a believer in God.  The place you attend church services should be legally liable for anyone of that faith who kills or harms another person.  That way, when people are no longer allowed to have religion and we are all thankfully safe, armed Federal authorities can come to your house and confiscate bibles, crucifixes, prayer books, rosary beads, and other religious paraphernalia that are dangers to themselves, their household, and their neighbors.

Such a plan, of course, is not unprecedented.  Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, replying to a questioner in Keene, NH who asked “[Regarding] churches…the Soviet Union managed to take away tens of thousands–even millions–of churches and houses of worship, and in one year they were all gone. Can we do that? And if we can’t, why can’t we?”

“I don’t know enough details to tell you how we would do it or how it would work, but certainly the Soviet example is worth looking at,” Clinton said at a New Hampshire town hall on Friday.

Common-sense religious laws.  Religion is responsible for more violence than any other single thing.  This outmoded idea that everyone has the right to have God in their lives, God telling them what to do instead of the dictates of the State, “makes no sense”, in the words of President Obama.  Maybe, if we can eliminate such dangerous religion in the hands of private citizens, we can avoid the tragedies like San Bernadino, Fort Hood, Umpqua, UC Merced, Paris, and elsewhere.  Let’s do it, for the children, so they can be safe from God and religious violence.  Like the ones in Kampuchea.

  • Latest batch of Clinton emails contains 66 more classified messages | Fox News

In one email, Clinton even seemed to coach a top adviser on how to send secure information outside secure channels. All but one of the 66 messages have been labeled “confidential”, the lowest level of classification. The remaining email has been labeled as “secret.” The total number of classified emails found on Clinton’s personal server has risen to 1,340 with the latest release. Seven of those emails have been labeled “secret.”In all, the State Department released 1,262 messages in the early hours of Friday, making up almost 2,900 pages of emails. Unlike in previous releases, none of the messages were searchable in the department’s online reading room by subject, sender or recipient. Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, has repeatedly maintained that she did not send or receive classified material on her personal account. The State Department claims none of the emails now marked classified were labled as such at the time they were sent.

I’m increasingly weary of living in a society where how long I park my car on a private driveway is a matter of criminal law, but Hillary Clinton faces no consequences for violations of national security.

I do not support the Bundy folks seizing the center in the wildlife refuge, but I can certainly understand their motivation.

  • Medals policy overhaul includes new ‘C’ device for combat

The Pentagon is fundamentally changing the way it recognizes service in a combat zone by tightening the criteria for awarding the Bronze Star and creating a new “C” device that can be pinned to other traditionally noncombat awards. The changes stem from a two-year internal Pentagon review aimed at modernizing the military medals and awards system; the final report includes 37 recommended changes made public Wednesday.

Eh. The awards process has been broken for a long time. Fobbits getting the Bronze Star for meritorious service, while grunts can’t get an ArCom. Maybe this will help some of that.

It’s a few years old, but a solid look at trauma treatment in Afghanistan.

  • SecNav Mabus is just trolling us now…

A line I stole from Bryan McGrath on twitter.

Seriously, the Navy is suffering from critically low numbers of ships, and manning issues, and his top priority is to get the Navy and Marine Corps to gender-neutral all the job titles?

Women have been serving in the Navy for decades, and somehow, managed to serve well in paygrade E-3 with the title Seaman.

I’m so sick of this administration that has such a fundamentally unserious approach to every national defense issue.

  • Pentagon may upgrade hundreds of troops to possible Medals of Honor

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is poised to order the military services to review more than 1,000 medals issued since the 9/11 terror attacks for possible upgrade to the Medal of Honor, the country’s highest award issued for valor in combat, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY.If approved by Defense Secretary Ash Carter, the sweeping review would represent one of the most significant steps in decades to honor troops who have displayed extraordinary courage in combat. The review stems from a study of military decorations and awards that was ordered in March 2014 by then Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel “to ensure that after 13 years of combat the awards system appropriately recognizes the service, sacrifices and action of our service members.”Should even a fraction of the medals under review be upgraded, it’s possible that dozens more troops would receive the Medal of Honor for their bravery in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I don’t think there’s “hundreds” of Medals of Honor out there that were wrongly denied. But I do think there are probably a couple cases where awards were wrongly downgraded. And the Navy/Marine Corps assertion that a review would undermine confidence is the system is silly. Trust me, no one has any confidence in the system as it exists today.

Yes, the Army and the Air Force tend to be more liberal with awards than the sea services. That’s primarily at the Achievement and Commendation medal level.

Like John Donovan, I was deeply concerned that the first years of the war saw a reluctance to award the Medal of Honor to anyone living. A review is well founded.

  • More than a dozen US troops trapped amid Afghanistan firefight | Fox News

More than a dozen U.S. Army special operations soldiers are trapped in Marjah, Afghanistan, taking cover in a compound surrounded by enemy fire and hostile Taliban fighters after a U.S. special operations solider was killed earlier in the day, senior U.S. defense officials told Fox News late Tuesday.A U.S. official described the “harrowing” scene to Fox News, saying there were enemy forces surrounding the compound in which the special operations team sought refuge.“On the map there is one green dot representing friendly forces stuck in the compound, and around it is a sea of red [representing hostile forces],” the official told Fox News.

A fine example of the silly semantics of the Obama administration. He’s declared that the combat mission is over. But US special operations forces accompanying Afghan forces into combat isn’t combat. Nope.

  • Army submits plan for women in infantry, armor, special operations

The Army has submitted to the Defense Department its plan to open its infantry, armor and special operations ranks to women. The implementation plan comes one month after Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced his decision to lift all gender-based restrictions on military service starting in January. The move paved the way for women to serve in these previously all-male specialties. The plan, which is supposed to outline how the Army will integrate the newly opened occupations and positions, is now being reviewed and discussed as part of the implementation working group co-chaired by Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work and Air Force Gen. Paul Selva, the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Lotta happy talk, no discussion about how any of this will improve the combat readiness of combat arms units.

    Because it won’t.
