More than a dozen U.S. Army special operations soldiers are trapped in Marjah, Afghanistan, taking cover in a compound surrounded by enemy fire and hostile Taliban fighters after a U.S. special operations solider was killed earlier in the day, senior U.S. defense officials told Fox News late Tuesday.A U.S. official described the “harrowing” scene to Fox News, saying there were enemy forces surrounding the compound in which the special operations team sought refuge.“On the map there is one green dot representing friendly forces stuck in the compound, and around it is a sea of red [representing hostile forces],” the official told Fox News.

A fine example of the silly semantics of the Obama administration. He’s declared that the combat mission is over. But US special operations forces accompanying Afghan forces into combat isn’t combat. Nope.

All Obama would care about is if there were women, minorities, and gays among those SF soldiers.

I wonder if Obama has a Tuesday afternoon lunch to coordinate each and every airstrike in Afghanistan for the following week? It worked out great for LBJ, right?

As for the advisors on the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq (and Syria, even though we’ve been told that SF teams don’t count as “boots on the ground”), I hope they realize that if it comes down to bombing the shit out of a town, with the usual collateral damage in order to save a team that is pinned down, the morons and cowards “leading” the US these days will leave them twisting in the wind. The only hope is that some O-5 or O-6 has the stones to do the right thing, even though it will cost him any chance of a future promotion.

What about friendly afghan forces? What was their involvement? If the US forces are only advisors or trainers there must be some Afghan forces involved. Why do we need “dozens of U.S. military infantry forces ” (are they eligible for the “Non-Combat Infantry Badge”?) to secure the damaged helicopter?

Time to cut our losses and get the flock out of A’stan.
