The CH-46, originally know as the Vertol 107, was first designed for the Army, then evaluated by the Marines, and bought by both the Marines and the Navy. Not surprisingly, Boeing Vertol made a pitch to the Air Force that they too should operate it, but alas, the blue suiters declined to buy the Phrog. Still, there’s some impressive footage, and you see the 107 in Army markings.
