Longtime readers know of my affinity and association with surplus Army 65’ T-Boats. Of the boats built during the Korean War, many were acquired by Sea Scouts, or converted to private cruisers. But they were also popular as research vessels with universities and government agencies.
NOAA operated on for many years off the coast of Georgia. And when it was thoroughly obsolete, rather than sending her to the breakers, they sank her as an artificial reef. A sad, but fitting end.
