R. Lee Ermey? Eh, he’s OK. But for a cinema DI, I’ll take Jack Webb.

One thing I noticed was the rifle rack full of M1s in the barracks. Imagine that today! I was in the Army and went through basic training in 1974 at Fort Leonard Wood. I remember much coarser language and getting pecked hard on the bridge of my nose by the brim of the Drill Sergeant’s Smoky the Bear hat. Lots of push-ups too.

Toss up in my opinion. One overlooked movie of this genre, “Tribes” with Jan Michael Vincent.

The Hayes office wouldn’t let Holly wood get course back then. Made for a much better movie too.
I didn’t care for how Tribes ended.
