Superintendent's Letter to Graduates Regarding 2nd Lt. Rapone by Arthur Barie on Scribd

Sadly, it's my suspicion that while 2LT Rapone will be thrown to the wolves, LTC(Ret) Herrington's concerns will be papered over. There's a strong tendency for long standing institutions to care more for the reputation of the institution than for the actual well-being of the institution. Don't forget, Herrington made a sworn statement 2 years ago regarding Rapone, and nothing happened. If I had a private soldier act that way with me as an NCO, there almost certainly would have been some UCMJ action.

An investigation into LTC(Ret) Herrington's allegations is certainly warranted, but it is hard to see how West Point can objectively investigate itself.  If I were Army Chief of Staff GEN Milley, I'd appoint a general officer who didn't attend West Point to conduct an independent investigation.

Hat Tip to Western Warlord on Twitter for finding the Supe's letter.

I’ll take his commitment to excellence more seriously when West Point stops recruiting athletes who require remedial English & math studies.

After watching the decay at Annapolis, and now this, I’m firmly in the camp of tearing down the service academies. We have no need for three more liberals arts clown colleges that are Federally funded and tuition free.
    To hell with them.
