First up, a touch-and-go at Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Later, landing   at the destination.

A couple of in flight pictures.

I can't imagine why Andy is smiling so much.

Overview of the B-29 flight deck.

8

Flight Engineer's position. The Wright R-3350 was a very advanced engine for its day, and took a lot of attention to keep running.

Short final into Janesville.

Many, many thanks to Andy for sharing these pics and video.

One of my friends was a B29/B50 flight engineer after WW II. They routinely flew 12 hour flights and he worked the entire time at his station. He said he had calluses on the insides of his thumbs from tiny adjustments on props, cowl flaps, mixture and so on. The tiny adjustments were necessary to avoid problems with the engines or props.

May I recommend “Bringing the Thunder: The Missions of a World War II b-29 Pilot In the Pacific” by Gordon Robertson. Excellent read.
