Given what’s been written about EMALS (the electric catapult) I have no doubt he had one hand on the ejection loop the entire time.
Tis one thing to make it work for a photo op. How will it work several hours into full combat conditions and sortie rates?

Ver’ true, Ned. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and we need to see something which has long-term utility and reliability.

I don’t think anyone’s ever said it wouldn’t work at all. It’s just … I can’t seem to get the long-term availability statistics out of my head. Wasn’t it something like 20% availability during LAND BASED testing? Y’know, during the time when it’s simplest to operate and maintain?
