On the flip side of the very good CC of the enemy destroyer is me, who I think has managed, at most, two torp hits and I have gotten very good at dying quickly.

It took me a good while to not suck at destroyer play. The main thing is to use the predictor as a guideline, not an absolute. Try to guess where your target is going and put the torps there. Als, be aware of your detection limits to stay out of sight as much as possible.
