I think this is my first really successful run in the Tier IX US Destroyer, the Fletcher.
48k damage, 10,000XP, and 330k credits. Not bad at all. Oh, and I grabbed all four cap points.

Been almost all negative credits in my T9 kagero so far, looking to make some big progress soon

Kagero sucks, Kitwar. I haven’t liked any of the IJN DD’s past T5. My Kamikaze R and Tachibana, though, are almost guaranteed big-credit earners.

Ok, I’ll bite. How does capture work? Does it have to do with the circles of buoys I’ve seen? Do you occupy a certain region for a certain amount of time?

Essentially, yes.
If you look at the minimap in the lower right hand corner, you’ll usually see three or four circles. They start out neutral, and you have to occupy them for a set period of time before you capture (hence, “cap”) the circle. Note, there cannot be any enemy ships in the cap.
Having capped, you gain three points every few seconds, adding to your team score. The first team to 1000 points wins, so it’s important to grab as many caps as possible.
As an added benefit, grabbing a cap adds greatly to the “Experience Points” you earn in the battle.
Some battles might only have two large cap points. These start the battle already in possession- one for your team, one for the other. If you cap the enemy base, you win.
Once capped, if you leave the cap circle, the enemy can recapture the circle. It’s not uncommon to see a cap trade hands a couple of times in a battle.
