Ever since I built a model of the Grumman F7F Tigercat way back in junior high, I've thought it was one of the sexiest airplanes ever.

    I read an article some years back in Proceedings, maybe 1998 or 1999, proposing a new Tigercat for a carrier-based CAS / light attack platform. Interesting and well-thought out article, well-argued points. Of course it could never happen … but what a fantasy.

    Interesting trivia: The F7F was going to be named Tomcat, but it was thought to be too “raunchy” at the time.
