    There used to be a pair of P51s at Philly Northeast airport. When we heard the sound of large piston engines we would scramble out of the house and look intently at the sky.
    We had not realized how automatic our reactions had become until we pulled the large engines response drill and left dinner guests sitting at the table.
    Have not heard them for quite a while.

    I recently saw an F82 on display at Lackland AFB and I’m now curious about how to fly that. I don’t recall ever having seen a real one before, but maybe a long time ago. I took a couple of pics of it, and it looks slightly different than a P51. Going to have to hit Wikipedia.

    Esli, the F-82 was based on a very late model F-51, the K if I recall. It was a “lightweight” version with a tall tail. Also the -82 reverted to Allison engines.
