Women in Combat Arms

We live in a nation with civilian control of the military. Sometimes, you just have to shut up and salute.

Shut up, salute… and resign en masse if you are a senior officer.

Yeah, I’m not holding my breath for that last one.

We should also tell our sons and daughters not to join the military, because (a) the military is under the control of crazy liberals who will fight for crazy things using crazy ROEs, and (b) the military is more dangerous to be in now that women can formally be in any job even if they can’t actually do it properly.

God help the military and the country if we ever have to fight a real enemy.

This will not work. The IDF found this out in ’48. Effective utilization isn’t accomplished by arbitrary placement. That said, medics carrying tampons for control of bleeding of wounds will soon be a field Walgreens. So much for a decision rendered by a physicist who has written many books, and articles but not one day in uniform.

Sometimes you’ve got to start watering the tree of liberty too…

You don’t have to be a physicist, or a PhD, or an author to know this idea is stupid and is going to get a lot of people killed. Plain common sense and some knowledge of real history (not propaganda nonsense) is all it takes.

Speaking as a current Active Duty Soldier, I don’t have a huge problem with this per se. My deepest concern is that in order to make this work, the Powers-that-Be will lower the standards for women to qualify for these positions, which will badly damage our Warfighting abilities, military cohesion, and the women themselves. I’ve spent plenty of time with Combat Arms units (and love them) and I’m no small dude, but even I and others like me felt the beating the physical requirements cause you. Putting women in the same position is fine ONLY if the requirements, physical and otherwise, are maintained; NOT arbitrarily diminished to meet some political end.
