Who knows, mebbe a screw popped loose from the vibration of take off. Knowing you can’t/won’t catch everything, it always concerned me when I pushed the throttle forward.

That’s a problem specific to Airbus 320s. You would think that 70 years into the jet age cowling latch design would be perfected.

I did NOT see “a turbine engine failing” during takeoff. I saw an inspection cover left unlatched, popping open, and tearing off.
Yes, I am an A&P and qualified to make that statement. No aircraft that I have worked-on has ever had a maintenance related problem…

Still, I give the camera guy props for not shrieking in terror as the plane seemingly starts to disintegrate before his eyes. Us laymen often don’t realize the difference between a cosmetic loss of nonessential airframe parts and a loss of critical parts which cause that unfortunate premature or unscheduled landing.
