A crazed gunman, who opened fire with an assault rifle onboard a high-speed train was detained by a group of US Marines who were travelling on the service.

The man is understood to have been overheard loading the Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifle in the toilet by the un-armed Marines.

Three people were injured when the man opened fire, but he was soon forced to the ground and detained.

    Some of the guys in my old unit used to wonder why I insisted on teaching combatives to the new trainees in the aviation advisor course. Because you can’t always carry a knife or gun everywhere you go, especially if, like us, you could be sent to foreign countries (like France or the Netherlands, for instance). Good job on the Marines using their fighting skills in a nasty situation, I bet they’ll be set for life if they ever want to return to France for a little partying…

    Rule One concerning fighting skills: Better to have it and never need it, than to need it and not have it….

    This is the AK-47 assault rifle, the preferred weapon of your enemy; and it makes a distinctive sound when fired at you, so remember it.

    I expect it makes a distinct sound when being loaded as well. 🙂

    Heh. Now the media is reporting that the guys who jumped on the jihadist were two Air National Guard airmen and their college buddy from Sacramento. So I guess the Air Force and the National Guard get to split the credit for this one. I should have known that the media would get it wrong on the first report….

    Either way, service members of the U.S. stepping up. Maybe “they” will figure out finally that if a Nat’l Guardsman, a USAF A1C and a U.S. Citizen can do this, they don’t even want any part of USMC personnel!!!
