    I am an ignorant passive civilian observer. I want to say the Helicopter is in the Pave family, is it a Pave Low or a Pave Hawk?

    Pave Hawk. All the Pave Lows have been retired. Actually, just Blackhawk. Pavehawks applies only to the Air Force’s rescue birds.

    Looks like a plain ole CH-53. Definitely not a ‘hawk of any kind. 🙂

    Yeah, I really gooned my comment. I thought Vmax was commenting on the thread about an H-60 crash. The helo in this post is indeed a standard CH-53E Sea Stallion.
