Fortunately one cannot throw a rock in any direction and not hit an aircraft maintenance specialist. Most are from CCAD who work primarily on helo’s but there are plenty hands aboard to help. CC NAS has an RV park facing the old seaplane ramp and Corpus Christi Bay beyond and the RVs rarely deploy their awnings due to daily winds.

When Hurricane Allen in 1980 threatened NAS Corpus Christi the Commodore instructed all personnel to bring their families aboard NAS for shelter. Most ignored the order and evacuated upstate. Fortunately the storm stalled for a bit and then headed further south. If this little bit of rain can do this I shudder to think what might have happened had Allen hit NAS CC full on.
