When using a thermonuclear weapon against a countervalue target (that is, a city) you want an airburst. We tend to think of hydrogen bombs in terms of blast and radiation, but the real killer effect of a large H-bomb is the thermal pulse.

Australia recalls ambassador to Indonesia.
Indonesia executed eight people accused of drug trafficking, including two Australians, as part of President Joko Widodo’s “war on drugs”. Australian officials had made personal appeals for clemency from Indonesia’s government, but it all came to naught yesterday, when a firing squad carried out the state’s sentence and shot the convicts dead.
Here’s a hint- don’t traffic drugs to countries that have the death penalty for trafficking.
