When I was in OCS one guy calling cadence started the “Yellow Bird.” All 3 TACs crawled all over him. The TACs actually stopped us so they could crawl all over him. They didn’t like the “C-130 rollin’ down the strip” cadence either.

Hey, the lesson of the yellow bird still holds true. You really do need some bread if you want …

Well he WAS perched upon my windowsill! Sang this one many times as a Private in Basic Training at Fort Lost in the Woods in 1974. Of course, I didn’t know better then, I was but a #$@&^%$# Maggot. Of course we called the Drills “Drill Maggots” behind their backs. One day in the chow line I was behind some big ole country boy and I kept whispering, “RA Drill Maggot”. We had to tell the Drill Sergeant whether we were RA, NG, or AR as we entered the chow hall. Sure enough, he steps up to the DS and hollers, “RA Drill Maggot”. I think it cost him a thousand push-ups. Fortunately for me, he was too tired to beat my ass afterwards.
Well, which one about napalm?
The one referenced in Brad’s link isn’t the one I was thinking of … the one I was thinking of is sung to the tune of “Jesus Loves The Little Children.”
