Sad to see the old gal go, though it is a well earned retirement. On the other hand, goodly numbers are going to museums around the nation. And the closest to me, Palm Springs Air Museum is the recipient of one. It will take some time to deactivate the jet. All the fuel and hydraulic fluids need to be removed, as well as sensitive electronics, such as the secure radios and the electronic warfare components. Most importantly, the various pyrotechnic devices need to be removed. It would be a bad thing to have the ejection seats fire in a hangar.

I’m gonna miss seeing / hearing those noisy bastards going over my house.

Would those jammers work in a car? Going from coast-to-coast in a cannonball run? Asking for a friend.

Let’s hope that they continue to maintain them. Nothing sadder than a static display aircraft with faded paint, sagging tires, crazed and filmy canopies, and covered in bird crap and mildew (for example the travesty of an Intruder they had down at city beach in OH).
I went to a Warbird museum in FL once and nearly turned around and left when I saw the F105 they had on display out front, until I saw that it was in line for restoration. Inside, they had some aircraft that had been beautifully restored. They even let you walk around the restoration hanger and see some works in progress. Can’t recall the name of the place, but it was within ten miles of the Kennedy Space Center.
