Who wants to fly to Hawaii?

I thought I knew the story of just about every 707 accident, but I’ve never heard of this one. It’s incredible.  And it was caught on film.

    I’m almost convinced without looking this up that the pilot was in the 8th AF in WWII. The description of how he sped up the plane to put out the fire sounds like what the B-17 pilots over Germany would do.

    A) Third time is a charm. B) fire in the air or sea – never a good thing. C) I say this more tongue in cheek so take it in the spirit intended…oh and I’M crazy for not being hesitant when it comes to jumping out of aircraft (or that one hot air balloon over Quincy, IL early one morning).

    If I saw the nose wheel collapse on the plane sent to pick me up after the first one lost an engine, there is no way I’d get on a third plane. Nope, nope, nope. NAFC.

    Thank you QM I actually expected that response from the FOG or Fellow Old Guys block. (with the additional reference to bird droppings which you did not mention). My faith is bouyed. /:>)
