The Air Force Academy removed a Bible verse posted on a cadet’s whiteboard after it determined the posting had offended other cadets, a spokesman for the academy said.

The cadet wrote the passage on the whiteboard posted outside his room. “I have been crucified with Christ therefore I no longer live, but Christ lives in me,” the verse from Galatians read.

Mikey Weinstein, director of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, told me 29 cadets and four faculty and staff members contacted his organization to complain about the Christian passage.

“Had it been in his room – not a problem,” Weinstein told me. “It’s not about the belief. It’s about the time, the place and the manner.”

He said the Bible verse on the cadet’s personal whiteboard created a hostile environment at the academy.

LTG Boykin (quoted later in the piece) is correct. Once the whiteboard is used for personal messages, scripture passes test. Had the whiteboards been solely for official business, that would have been one thing. But that’s not what happened here.

I found it rather telling how Whine-stein was upset over the cadet not being punished, almost as if he were affronted by the decision.

Eh, that’s his job, to be a professional pain in the ass. What irks me was how fast AFA bent over for him.

Moral cowardice. Starting at the top. Drag queens prancing about on an Air Force Base being highly encouraged. Mentioning of Jesus strictly forbidden. Yeah, Salamander. I was right. Bask in this. And remember it next time you want to give activists and advocates of politically favored groups the benefit of the doubt.

“…and, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
put out my hand and touched the face of the officially-sanctioned state deity.”

We’re screwed when this hits the (formerly) hallowed halls of a service academy.

BS. If it had been a Muslim verse it would have stayed, in the name of ‘tolerance’ and ‘diversity’.

Christianity-The religion that dare not speak it’s name.

Good Lord, what version is that from? I’m only familiar with the original (classic) version.

I seriously doubt anyone has complained to Mikey. The AF has those two letters that strike fear into the hearts of battle hardened commanders everywhere – IG. I’d go there first if there really was a problem here. Mikey is just trying to toot his own horn as well as cause trouble.

There was a quote from 1st Samuel on a door. Near that one is the best advice for a military leader in the Old Testament, where Urriah comes home from battle and refuses to sleep indoors or take advantage of the comforts of home because the guys he left in the fight don’t have those comforts. Too bad Kind David is busy getting Urriah’s wife pregnant and sends him back to the front to die… Perfect example of a solid military leader and a crappy one, all in a matter of one chapter.

I figured your tongue was planted deeply in your cheek talking about David in that incident. He was a Royal Cad, to put it mildly and he paid for the rest of his life for it.
