Master and Commander

I’m a big fan of Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin novels* and the movie adaptation, Master and Commander- The Far Side of the World is one of my favorite movies. Here’s a 13 minute clip of deleted scenes from the film. *yes, I’ve read the entire canon multiple times, and have several companion books as well.

This is one of my fav movies. Just watched it again last week. I didn’t even know it was based upon books.

Will have to watch when I get home. HH6 bought me “21” for my birthday, so I re-read 1-19 (for 3rd time) but can’t find 20. This is, without a doubt, my favorite book series. The movie was amazing, too; when I read the books, I now visualize the characters as they are in the movie. Killick is the only one I am a bit unhappy with, but even he is pretty good.

One of the forums I belong to hates just about every actor except the guy who played Killick.

    Go figure.

Everyone has eccentricities, but don’t really see their point. I thought the movie was fairly well acted.

Have yet to read the books or see the movie, but I read a hilarious take on another blog a few years ago: “The two best Star Trek movies ever made are Galaxy Quest and Master and Commander.”
