Growlers in the break

If I had a $5000 videocamera (which, if you feel like donating, I’m up for that!), I could have gotten some better video, but for now, you’ll have to settle for these two vids. NAS Oceana and Lemoore serve as home to the Navy’s Hornet strike fighter squadrons, but NAS Whidbey, long home to the EA-6B Prowler, is now the home of the electronic warfare version of the Hornet.

Down by the fruit stand on Dugualla Flats? Nice sound. Had my work computer turned up for some post-COB rock music to make the time go by, and it was a bit too loud. I miss stopping and looking up several times a day and seeing a fast-moving, fixed-wing, naval aviation, real-live jet. All you see here are (sorry Crazyhorse 13) -60s, -64s, and -47s wop-wop’ing around all day.

They sell a mean ice cream cone at the fruit stand. Incredibly, I moved here in 1973, and this is the first time I’ve ever stopped there.

Was there enjoying a cone yesterday. Spruce Goose Produce home of “immodestly large ice cream cones” and the best seats for watching the planes returning from a day on the range.

I was there from 2 to 3 or so. When were you there?

About 3:30. I stopped at the Conway and had a burger then headed back to Birch Bay.

I heard the Growlers while I was having a burger, then it was off to the ice cream. Tough day.
