Normandy

I just happened to come across a Flickr account that has hundreds, thousands of pictures from the campaign in Normandy. There are very few pictures in existence of the actual assault itself, but this is a huge collection of pictures from the subsequent campaign. You can find the album here.

Well, there goes a full afternoon some time this week as I neglect my work and look at the album and research hull numbers, equipment configurations, individual actions, losses, damage, enemy ORBAT, etc.

URR, do you already have Chris Young’s “Gators of Neptune”? My sister-in-law gave it to me a few years ago, which prompted me to join USNI. (I’m chapped that they discontinued the book club.)
