When I was a company commander one of the vehicle crews of a sister company was bore sighting prior to their night Table VIII. In the middle of the bore sighting the first sergeant showed up with chow. The CO and I ate last then moved up to the range tower to watch the operations started now that the sun was down.
The previous vehicle was first in the barrel and moved up to fire the bore sight confirm round. It sounded a little loud but we thought nothing of it and theh vehicle got permission to move out. We watched the Bradley go through its full run and I remember the other CO mentioning to me something looked different when the Brad did the 25mm engagements.
After the vehicle pulled back into laager I heard the platoon sergeant going the eff off on the crew and squad leader. Seems the crew had negated to remove the bore sight adapter after they ate. When they fired their first round it blew the muzzle brake and about 2 feet of barrel off. that was the off sound we heard. And the CO and I realized what seemed wierd was how bright the muzzle flash was….that explained. SL, Gunner and driver all got to “donate” a months pay for that.

Looks like the end of TINS story. The kind that usually ends badly for someone so that others can tell the funny story.
