And Early Happy Birthday to Queen Elizabeth II

So, Her Majesty’s birthday will be Saturday. And in commemoration, among other things, the Royal Air Force will stage a flypast of various aircraft. The RAF may be a pale shadow of its former self, but they do still stage an impressive show. Click to greatly embiggen.

It would be awesome if her son and grandson were flying, too.

The grandson yes. He’s a good helo pilot.

Charles — no. He’s not current and his last takeoff was a clanger. Prince Charles can wave from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

    CHARLES?? Oh HELL no!!!

I meant Prince Andrew, who was an active duty helicopter pilot during the Falklands War, as well as an instructor.

Charles couldn’t piss in a bucket if the chamberlain held it for him.

Prince Andrew is not current in any of the flypast helos. It’s been a while since he was a Pilot in Command.

Although he did well back in the day, lifting survivors off of the SS Atlantic Conveyor after the Exocet hits while flying a Sea King.

    Agree on Prince Charles.

Got to see the flyby in 1996 when I was in London during HM E2’s birthday. It was BoB flight, Red Arrows and some larger jets. I was on a ferry going to Greenwich and the flew right over us as they headed for the palace. Pretty cool.
